Welcome back to Blogging Through the Alphabet!
This is Week 15 of this series, so this week we are on the letter “O”. And because revelation comes only from the Lord, who opens our eyes and ears, I am blogging about the value of being “open.”
Luke 24:45: Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
We often see in scripture, the statement, “open my eyes” and “ears to hear“. We also frequently see how “He opened their minds”
I myself understand all too well the need for a supernatural wisdom and understanding, one that can only be given by God, if we wish to fully comprehend the meaning of the scriptures. This revelation, God given, removes so many mysteries and curiosities which we may have. It gives us a spiritual wisdom; a bit of the mind of our great and glorious God.
Only God can open the mind so we can truly understand the Scriptures. God alone can give us minds and hearts that are willing to hear truth. May we have an open mind and heart; being meek and teachable, that we may see all He has for us. (Acts 16:14; James 1:21; Mark 10:15)
My cousin’s daughter recently came to me, wanting to know the Lord more. In so many, of the few, conversations we had, I could only say again and again, He is the Word. To walk and know the Lord we must know His Word. For God is the Word and the Word is God. ❤ If we wish to know and live for God we must seek revelation from Him; we must study His word. We need to know it for ourselves.
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. (Psalm 118:19)
Are we desperate for God? Do we hunger and thirst after Him alone? Do we treasure His Word? We need to know our need; we need to feel our desperate condition so that we understand how great is our need for God.
Psalm 119:147, “I rise before dawn and cry for help; I wait for Your words.” He gets up early! This is top priority. Would you make it that?
The Bible says that when we seek Him with ALL our heart….. God promises to reveal His truth to those who are earnestly seeking Him with a meek and quiet spirit. How we need to be covered, washed in the blood of the Lamb… And how great is our God.
