Who doesn’t love paper mache? I remember making all kinds of crazy things with this when I was a kid. And now my kids have the chance to do the same, but with less mess, thanks to Activa Products Rigid Wrap and CelluClay Quik-Sculpting Kit and they also provided the ACTÍVA Products’ Favorite Sculpture KIDS CRAFTS (a free ebook). Because sometimes we need a jumpstart on “creative”!
We received two (4 inch x 5 yard) rolls of Rigid Wrap, one (8oz) CelluClay Instant Papier Mache, as well as instructions to create twelve different projects.
Yes, this is what we have been doing. 😛
My oldest son was especially excited when this arrived. Out of our four children, he is definitely the one who has that artistic gift. The rest of us really have to try to create. Thankfully there is an ebook for that. It is only about 20 pages in length but it is very simple and full of ideas to help you get creative. Some of the projects included in the ebook are: making masks, an Egyptian Sarcophagus, beads, a spider, even a piece of cake! ha-ha 😛
My oldest son got to work almost immediately, mixing the CelluClay.
Rigid wrap is very interesting; a plaster coated gauze, it can take any shape. All you have to do is cut it and wet it, then shape it and let it dry. After that you can decorate any way you like. It’s actually pretty easy although my kids really didn’t enjoy this much as they did the other. My oldest hoped to make a totem of sorts using Rigid wrap and some cardboard paper rolls but it got to be a bit too wet and too much of a mess for him. He tried again using smaller balloons (this requires some gentle and steady hands) but we still were not quite able to get it and keep it, all together.
My younger son (who is a lover of volcanos) got pretty interested watching his brother hard at work. So of course he had to make something himself. Can you imagine how much fun they had with the volcano that he made? He was very active in decorating this too!
And there is so much you can do with this and just basic items around the house. There was only one project we came across in the ebook where we had to go and get something in order to create. If you have cardboard and/or cardstock, paper towel or toilet paper tubing, old egg cartons and some tape you can totally create!
One of the most awesome things about this particular project is how much product there is! So much fun and we still have plenty more.
Whether you are a creator or not, this is such a fun and simple thing to use; with their free ebook you are guaranteed to have fun learning and growing in your creative abilities. And if you are already someone who is super creative, artistic and loves this sort of thing, this will even be a great tool for you!
Must get creative again soon 🙂
